Creating a blogspot to share our experiences with the GAPS Diet.

The GAPS Diet addresses various forms of gut dysbiosis, leaky gut, and other autoimmune diseases. The diet was first described in the book Gut And Psychology Syndrome (GAPS) Diet by Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride. She was a neurosurgeon and learned that her child suffered from autism. Her own research into autistm led her to study in depth the nutritional relationship between the gut and psychological illness. Among other benefits, the GAPS diet has helped resolve food related allergies. That is how we discovered GAPS.

My son who is now almost two-and-a-half years old has battled allergic eczema and hives. Our efforts to pinpoint the specific foods allergens prooved elusive. We had him tested and learned that he had allergies to wheat, eggs, dairy, nuts, soy, and several other things. The established medical protocol is allergen avoidance and to carry an epi-pen in case of an anaphylactic reaction. As best we can tell, Nate does not have true allergies (or anaphylactic allergies). So the GAPS Diet is the one true hope we have of resolving Nate's allergies and offering him a normal dietary life.
